Well, we are wrapping up our study on weathering the storms of life, but not before we cover one last thing. God is an expert on you! Yes. He has the skill set to use you for his purposes and he knows exactly how much you can take without breaking to pieces. This process almost every time includes us going through some type of storm in order to be ready.
This Week's Scripture Focus: Zechariah 9:13
"I will bend Judah as I bend my bow and fill it with Ephraim. I will rouse your sons, Zion, against your sons, Greece, and make you like a warrior's sword."
The truth is that each one of us was created for a specific purpose and because of that, no one else will do. Our unique experiences are a culmination of God's overall vision for our life. Before we were even created he mapped out our life's journey and he knew us intimately. His expertise in who we are and how we are woven together makes him the perfect marksman to use us for exactly the purpose we were created. Who are we to doubt our creator?
So many times it feels as though we will break under the pressure of what is happening to us, but the truth is that things are usually happening for us instead. We see pain and God sees growth, we see hopelessness and God sees resilience. So much of our perspective is limited to our human capacity for understanding heavenly vision when God's perspective is all knowing and perfect and, therefore, he is able to know exactly what needs to be done for our purpose to be fulfilled. As hard as it is to be thankful for our pain, we must, at the very least, be thankful that he cares enough to allow our struggles to mold us into an instrument of his choosing. Whatever we are becoming through the pain is what God needs to complete his purposes for our lives.
It is never easy and it isn't supposed to be, but God commanded us to be faithful anyway and to trust him in spite of our lack of understanding. He also expects us to rely on his expertise in all things that relate to us so that if there is something he needs to remove in order to make room for what we actually need, he can. Instead of fighting against the pressure this week, lets' commit to trusting God as the expert operator of our lives and allow him to use that expertise to bring us to a place to be used fully for his kingdom.
1. What area of your life are you feeling God bending you?
2. Are you resisting or embracing his work in your life?
3. What are 3 things you can do this week to allow God to work in this area?
4. Pray for God to help give you strength to grow in whatever storm your are in right now.
